Started on a whim with ingredients in my kitchen
Soulshine Carolina founder Adrienne Matt learned how to host a great party from her parents, Randy & Christine. From sophisticated dinner parties to backyard gatherings, Adrienne was taught how to properly empty ashtrays and refill empty hands at the ripe old age of 5. Stories and laughter fueled those gatherings and Adrienne quickly learned that both were more likely to flow when everyone had a cocktail in their hand.
During 2020, Adrienne, like many people, reacquainted herself with her home bar and began making all sorts of concoctions. Simple syrups and shrubs, infusions and fruit mashes expanded her already lengthy cocktail-making repertoire. So when friends would call or Zoom, they asked her what she was drinking and how she made it. And she started jotting down recipes for them and herself. In the twilight of lockdown, Adrienne relocated to North Carolina, found her new group of Bourbon Babes and started thinking about how to share those recipes.
The warmth of hospitality and ease of conversation prompted her to share infusions and simple syrups at dinner parties and backyard fire pits. She wanted to share these fruit and spice combinations beyond friends and family, so started canning her combos for artisan and farmers markets.
Soulshine Carolina is a nod to Southern hospitality, that little extra detail that makes the guest feel at home. A drink recommendation based on their particular palate. A refreshing cocktail with their favorite flavors in mind. A signal that you are special, you are welcome.
